Years ago, this photo might not have been such a rarity, because our area was home to many moose. However that has changed. This moose was sighted southeast of the Agassiz Refuge on Saturday of Goose Festival weekend. The photo was taken by Tate Breuer, son of Matt Breuer, who has been a part of Goose Festival for many years. Before they headed to Middle River, where Matt serves as organizer and emcee of the Goose Calling contest at the Goose Festival, they wanted to see how much water was in Farmes Pool. As they cut across on the Elm Lake road and were halfway through, out walks this young bull moose. Tate had just finished photographing a pair of wolves so the camera was ready. The bull walked toward them without a care, and then, just as fast as he appeared, he disappeared.
