Math League had their fourth competition of the season on Tuesday, January 24th, 2023. Competing on the Varsity Scoring Team: Elizabeth Gust, Cassie Dahl, Honna Westlund, Hannah Bergsnev, Sierra Westberg, Vincent Stenberg, Audrey Gust, and Mya Bennett. Competing as Individuals: McKenna Bennett, Ava Novacek, Sawyer Strand, Meagan Otto, Katelyn Waage, Kenzie Dahl, Brylie Kjersten, Clara Bergsnev, and Jalyssa Gust.
Scoring points in Event A: Elizabeth with 3 points; Katelyn, Honna, and Kenize with 2 points each; and McKenna and Cassie with 1 point each. Scoring points in Event B: Audrey with 3 points; Elizabeth, Vincent, Mya, Jalyssa, Kenzie, and Brylie with 1 point each. Scoring points in Event C: Honna, Cassie, Hannah, and Ava with 1 point each. Scoring points in Event D: Vincent with 1 point. Team Event for Varsity: 1 question answered correctly for 4 more points.
In the Division, Bemidji was first with 46 points, TRF was second with 34 point, Nevis was third with 22 points, GMR was fourth with 20 points, and Badger was fifth with 19 points.
In the Section, TRF is first with 34 points, Rock Ridge was second with 23 points, North Woods and GMR tied for third with 20 points, Badger was fifth with 19 points, Mt. Iron-Buhl was sixth with 14 points, and Nashwauk-Keewatin was seventh with 8 points.
Currently GMR is ranked 4th in the section with 15 rank points. The first place team in the section at the end of the season will be attending the state tournament as a team. TRF is ranked first with 29 rank points.
The last meet of the season will take place in Bemidji on Monday, February 13th. This will be the only in person meet this season and we are looking forward to getting together as a division and competing in person since this will be a new experience for the majority of the math league team. The last two seasons, we have only competed virtually, as well as the first four meets of this season. We will be practicing until the meet and hope for a great outcome. Go Gators!!
