Open Door Fellowship Ministries “Christmas Around the World”

Sunday December 10th was a festive time with Open Door Fellowship Ministries Christmas program telling the account of the birth of Jesus Christ. Our program was titled “Christmas Around the World”. We learned how other countries celebrate Christmas and some of the meanings behind the traditions. Did you know that in Brazil, they have a tradition to shoot off fireworks to announce the birth of Jesus? Nothing subtle about that celebration! In Syria the children will leave their shoes in the door step filled with hay and a bowl of water. This hay and water would help sustain the camels that brought the wisemen on their long journey, to worship Christ. No matter what the various traditions are, it is so amazing to see the variety of traditions that other cultures have when celebrating Christmas. Some traditions subtle and quiet, others loud and with great fanfare. But, all to honor the most precious gift that ever was given. The miraculous gift from God the Father, his Son Jesus Christ. Left to Right: Jocelyn Waage, Rhianna Utter, Katelyn Waage, Maximus Senum, Levi Wahl, Averil Augustson, Micah Wahl, and Ayden Sweigart.
