North Country Horsemen hold Annual Meeting, Celebrating 50 Years in 2024

A large crowd gathered at the American Legion in Middle River last Saturday for fun games, a delicious supper and both a live and silent auction. North Country Horsemens members and the public were invited to help fundraise for the group and to get caught up on the business of last year and plans for 2024, which is sure to be an exciting year for the club.

North Country Horsemens members and the public were invited to help fundraise for the group and to get caught up on the business of last year and plans for 2024, which is sure to be an exciting year for the club.

NCH hosts three shows at Ornquist Arena each year, last year’s shows featured a total of 219 riders. 2024 show dates are Sundays May 26th, June 23th, and September 8th. The September show has usually been held the same weekend as Goose Festival, but has been moved up this year in hopes of having warmer weather for that show.

2024 Trails To Treatments events were also announced during the meeing.

Upcoming TTT Event Dates are the annual trail ride which will start with trail rides at the Ornquist Arena at noon on Friday, August 2nd and a Scavenger Hunt. Register and ride whenever you arrive. On Saturday, August 3rd, registration is from 8:30 am-9:30 am, rides start at 10:00 am and 2:00 pm followed by a potluck supper and Karaoke. Breakfast and lunch will be served by Flying V at Ornquist Arena. The first weekend will end on Sunday, August 4th with a 10:00 am Trail Ride to say our good-byes.

The 6th Annual Motorcycle Run will be on Saturday, August 10th with registration starting at 9:00 am and the ride at 10:00 am, taking off from The Wheel Bar, Middle River. Contact Harlan Olson at 218689-1701 for more information.

TTT’s 15th Annual NCH TTT Cancer Benefit will be in Middle River on Saturday August 10th, 2024. For more information go to our website or contact Mardy at 218-689-2063.

The meeting wrapped up and then the awards were presented. Members are also eligible for the Trotting the Trails Year-end Awards which is based on hours ridden from February 15th to December 1st, 2023. Sixteen riders rode over 150 hours and earned gold, six silver and seven bronze awards. 2023 Year-end Show Awards were presented before the auctions began and can be found on the back page.

It was an exciting time and there were many wonderful items donated up for bid on the live auction.
