Gator Softball Finishes Regular Season with a Win

The BGMR Gator softball team traveled to Thief River Falls to take on the Thief River Falls Prowlers as part of the Agassiz Softball Conference Championship day. All teams in the Agassiz Conference played in Thief River Falls and the Gators and Prowlers battled it out with the Gators bringing home the 6-0 victory.

The BGMR Gator softball team traveled to Thief River Falls to take on the Thief River Falls Prowlers as part of the Agassiz Softball Conference Championship day. All teams in the Agassiz Conference played in Thief River Falls and the Gators and Prowlers battled it out with the Gators bringing home the 6-0 victory.

BGMR would start strong with 2 runs in the first which was aided by a Prowler error. The game would remain 2-0 until the sixth when the Gators would sneak 1 more run across and opened it up with 3 runs in the seventh. BGMR was able to work its way out of a bases loaded, one out jam in the fourth as the Prowlers would hit into a force out at the plate and a pop up to third base to end the inning.

Gator starting pitcher was sensational throwing a complete game, 4 hit, shutout. Westberg walked two and would rely on defense to make plays as she struck out 2.

Offensively the Gators managed 9 hits and were aided by 4 Prowler errors. Quinn Vacura continued her solid play with 3 hits. Jordan Lee would contribute 2 hits and four other Gators would get 1 hit a piece.

As part of the Conference Championship day the Agassiz All-Conference Team was announced. The Gators would land Jaci Hanson, Teagan Landsrud and Quinn Vacura on the All-Conference Team with Sierra Westberg receiving Honorable Mention.

The regular season is now over and the Gators will open up playoff play next Tuesday at 6:00 with an opponent yet to be determined. The Gators will be at home for the game and are looking forward to defending their Section 8A Championship. The playoffs should have some great games as Section 8A has several outstanding teams.

Come out on Tuesday as the Gators start their march to the State Tournament!
