Madison receives her award from Darcy Hestekind for her first place essay about her Grandma Nancy: The person I am writing about is my grandma Nancy. She is my beautiful grandma. She is very special to me, here are some reasons why. We cook for Thanksgiving, Christmas, and many other holidays and just many family events. We bake together, go on walks together, watch movies together, and go to many fun places. I help her in her garden. I help her water her plants and we plant a lot of flowers.
Some things I admire about her are that she always cares for me, she always gardens with me, she always cooks with me, and she also bakes cookies , muffins , and many other things with me. My grandma and I had the funniest time when we were hanging out with each other, but now I barely get to see my grandma anymore.
My Grandma and I bake, cook, garden, water plants, take Molly on a walk, watch movies together, and we always go shopping. She likes buying clothes for me. My grandma takes me swimming a lot in the summer. I love doing that with her. I also help my grandma with my grandpa, Rick because he has a bad knee and he used to have brain cancer.
My Grandma Nancy has helped me in a lot of ways. She always helps me talk about my feelings, makes sure I know my manners. She also helps me when I fall off my bike, hit my knee or hit my head. Also when I almost sprained my ankle she helped me ice it.
She also loves me unconditionally. I help my grandma by gardening and taking care of my grandpa. I also help her cook and help her take her dog, Molly outside. I help her by cleaning up their house and making sure they are not cold. I help out my grandma and grandpa a lot.
Just some extra things she is a very, sweet-hearted person and is very kind, helpful, beautiful, and amazing. She helped when I almost sprained my ankle. She has hung out with me 24/7 since I was like 4 years old. I love my grandma so much.
Reece displays his third place award for his essay about his Grandpa Wayne: My grandpa Wayne is one of my favorite people. He is my dad's dad, and he is special to me because he is so fun to talk to, and everytime we have a family gathering he is the first person I look for, or the person I sit by at restaurants.
My grandpa Wayne was in the military, and he's told me a lot about it. Last time I was at his house we looked through his military stuff and I got to see his uniform and guns and all sorts of stuff. I also got to see my great uncle Rubens military stuff and I got to wear his patrol cap. I also love going to the hunting cabin with him. Everytime were there together we always shoot and chat and trailwalk. When I was younger, probably five or less me and my grandpa and my dad went grouse hunting, and I have a picture in my room of us 3 with our camo on. When I was at his house we shot his BB gun when we were helping him. Then he set up little targets that you had to have pinpoint accuracy to hit, but we both hit them easily.
He's helped me alot like giving me and my dad recipes for meats like ham or turkey. Also he's helped me with my ancestry project for school. I can help him mow the lawn or help him with his dog Coco, or I could help him when we go to the cabin. My grandpa is also very good at cooking meats and grilling. Every Easter, Christmas, Thanksgiving, and almost every other gathering he always cooks a big rack of ribs or a big sweet juicy ham. He enjoys cooking, grilling, and trying weird recipes. Last Easter he brought Kool-Aid pickles, he made them by putting Kool-Aid powder in a jar of pickles and they were sweet, tangy, and salty. Also my grandpa loves history. A couple months ago he told me he got an app on his phone that he could learn about more history, and he was excited to tell me and try out the stories he cou Id learn. These are the reasons why he is my favorite.

Darcy Hestekind presents a certificate to Clara for her second place essay about her Granny Goose: My Grandma is my Dad's mom. They live right next to us. So usually in the summer on the hot days we walk on the path to her house. The dirt cool to the touch. That has always been there. When I was little we didn't live so close. We lived about three hours away. But we still went there a lot. Of course I was little so I don't remember much but what I do remember is I love it. Loved seeing her.
My Grandma does a lot with me. During summer we do my 4-H sewing project. It's always so chaotic but calming at the same time. It's a tradition to go to . Joannes Fabric Store and then Buffalo Wild Wings after. My sisters and I get the Salt & Vinegar french fries that are so hot, soft and seasoned with just the right amount. We also do piano together. She's my piano teacher and has taught me so much. After every piano lesson I normally have the best chocolate chip cookie ever.
My Grandma is continuously willing to help. She always plays the piano at the fair for me. She also helps me with making cookies. But I help her in return by helping her organize/clean her house. Sometimes it's me and my sisters or me and my cousins. But my favorite is when it's just me and my grandma because it's always just a little more special. Since I have four other siblings; Maddie, Annabelle, Russell and Hazel. I don't usually get to hang out with just her.
My Grandma loves to travel. She has traveled to 48 states in the U.S. Crazy! Sometimes after school I ride with her, she is a teacher. When she needs to go to TRF to get groceries I will sometimes go with. A couple times she has brought me and my siblings to the candy store after. It's so fun just to do the littlest things with her. Love you Granny Goose.
