Marshall County Central’s Grand Opening & Ribbon Cutting Ceremony

Marshall County Central’s Grand Opening & Ribbon Cutting Ceremony

Newfolden, MN; Wednesday, August 28, 2024; 4:30 p.m.

Marshall County Central Schools along with Kraus Anderson, construction manager and Widseth, Architect are planning our Grand Opening/Ribbon Cutting at MCC High School in the new gymnasium to celebrate completion of our school building project. The public is invited to attend.

The work was authorized after the community voted and passed an $18.9 million building referendum to add needed space to support students and programming.

All three school buildings in the district received improvements from the project. Viking Elementary School in Viking, MN received a 17,842 square foot addition which included a new secure entrance, front office, gym office, music room, kitchen office, and kitchen storage. Remodeling and realigning spaces in the building created dedicated spaces for a school nurse office, special education space, a new library, a larger staff lunch room, and an additional preschool room. Programming for preschool and Head Start will be expanding to four days a week this school year. This building will serve students in preschool through grade 1.

Newfolden Elementary School in Newfolden, MN received a new library, new music room, an improved outdoor basketball court, and a staff/visitor parking lot. Newfolden Elementary will serve students in grades 2 through 4.

MCC High School in Newfolden, MN received two large additions. The east addition will house a middle school wing for students in grades 5-6 along with a multi-purpose classroom. The north addition contains a new kitchen, new cafeteria, additional restrooms, a secondary gym, and a new weight room. MCC High School will serve students in grades 5-12.

The project was completed on budget and in time for school to start for the upcoming school year. We welcome the public to join us for this momentous occasion. This will be an exciting way to ring in the new school year! The ribbon cutting ceremony will be from 4:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. We will also host back to school night for our families at each school building following the ceremony from 5:00 p.m. to 7 p.m.
