The Legacy Center, (former Middle River School) recently purchased by the city and opened to the public for a plethora of uses and activities, was honored as the Grand Marshal for the 2019 Goose Festival.

Grand Marshals of the 2019 Goose Fest parade honoring the newly acquired Legacy Center were Skipper alumni Alice Matero who is a 1950 graduate of Middle River High School and her daughter Deb Matero Zak, who graduated from MRHS 21 years later in 1971, and serves as a leader of the Legacy committee.
The only hot dog eating contest held in conjunction with the festival was held at the 2019 event.
