Veteran s day Program

A Veteran’s Day program was held at Marshall County Central gymnasium in honor of the 2024 Veterans Day. The program consisted of Posting of Colors by American Legion Post 427, National Anthem by Karmyn Augustine, Welcome & Introduction by Superintendent Jeffrey Lund, POW/MIA Empty Table Presentation by Jessica Larson and Nick Lund, Chaplain Shawn Wagner - Legion Post 444 Middle River, “Carried Me With You” by 5th Grade Music, Message by Keynote Speaker LTC Chaplain Ryan Sarenpa, Quilts of Valor Presentation by Newfolden Grateful Hearts QOV, “God Bless America” by Audience & accompanied by 5th Grade Choir and Rachel Mattson, Retiring of Colors by American Legion Post 427.

KEYNOTE SPEAKER, Chaplain Ryan Sarenpa has been a member of the Army National Guard for 18 years, serving as a member in Minnesota, Kansas, Massachuretts, and North Dakota. He was deployed to Iraq in 2005 and was stationed at Log Base Seitz, near Baghdad Airport. He served in a full-time capacity for four years as Chaplain for the 795th Military Police Training Battalion in Fort Leonardwood, Missouri from 2006-2010 and as Chaplain for the 141st Maneuver Enhancement Brigade in Fargo. He currently serves as assistant Chaplain for the 141st Maneuver Enhancement Brigade in Fargo and as assistant Chaplain Joint Force Headquarters. Chaplain Sarenpa received his Master of Divinity from Bethel Seminary in St. Paul in 1999. He has been an ordained minister of the Evangelical Covenant Church for 22 years. He has pastored churches in Scranton, Kansas; International Falls, MN; Lunenburg, Massachusetts; and is currently serving in Warren, MN. Chaplain Sarenpa has been married to his wife Clarissa for 26 years. Together they have 6 children, 3 boys and 3 girls, ranging in age from 11 to 25. Lieutenant Colonel Sarenpa will retire from the Military in December of 2024.
Chaplain Shawn Wagner offered the opening prayer, remarks, and closing prayer.
Superintendent Jeff Lund welcomed the guests to the Newfolden Veterans Day Program.
Vicki Gast presented the Quilts of Valor on behalf of the Newfolden Grateful Hearts QOV.
Bruce Elseth, American Legion Post 427, served as program facilitator.
Nick Lund and Jessica Larson presented the “POW/MIA Empty Table.”
