Marshall Soybean & Corn Growers Donate to Area Food Shelves
The Marshall Soybean and Corn Growers are putting their checkoff dollars to good use by donating $600 in hams to food shelves in Warren, Argyle, Strandquist and Grygla.
“It is very important and helpful to those in need,” Board Secretary/Treasurer Cecil Deschene said. “The Marshall County food shelves do tremendous work, and we are proud to help the families in our community.”
Deschene noted that Minnesota’s soybean and corn farmers play an important role in providing feed for the meat that ends up on the family table.
In Minnesota, pork is one of the meat industry’s top exports, creating over 44,000 jobs and generating $6 billion in annual economic activity. Pigs consume over 20 billion pounds of soymeal each year, increasing the taste of the pork and ensuring a high-quality product for consumers.
The mission of Marshall County is to effectively and efficiently deliver essential services to help families and individuals achieve their potential through active community participation and to protect, promote and improve the health and quality of life in Marshall County, Minnesota.
