Tri-County EMS receives Award for Clinical Excellence

The Emergency Medical Services Regulatory Board (EMSRB) is pleased to announce the special recognition of 95 ambulance services across all of Minnesota for providing outstanding prehospital clinical care in 2022. According to Dylan Ferguson, Executive Director of the Emergency Medical Services Regulatory Board, “in early 2022, working with EMS physicians from across the state the EMSRB established multiple clinical advisory performance measures that could be used to benchmark and highlight the wonderful prehospital care that Minnesotans receive every day from our dedicated EMTs and Paramedics.” The measures evaluated looked specifically at the quality of patient care in cases of strokes, chest pain, trauma, and pediatrics.

In order to qualify, the 95 awardees had to achieve a performance rate of 80% or higher in five or more individual performance measures. The EMSRB congratulates and recognizes our award winners for providing exceptional patient care to their communities. In a letter received from Mr. Ferguson on February 6, he congratulated the award winners. “This award is a credit to your organization, leadership, the involvement of your Medical Director, and most of all the exemplary care and documentation performed by your dedicated crew members. You should be proud of the care that your organization provides to the communities and citizens you serve. Tri-County EMS was been serving our communities since 1975 as a non-profit corporation owned by the townships and cities belonging to Tri-County EMS. Tri-County EMS consists of three squads: Karlstad, Middle River, and Newfolden. Tri-County EMS is a 100% volunteer organization. Board chair Matthew Steien remarked, “This award goes to show that Tri County EMS strives to achieve excellence in the care and services provided to our communities. Our dedicated volunteers, director, board and training coordinator have a sincere desire to give our family, friends and neighbors the highest level of care attainable.”

Our all-volunteer squads respond to more than 300 emergency calls a year, provides stand-by services for countless community and private events, and trains continuously to ensure that citizens can count on the very best emergency services available. Tri-Co EMS is always looking for more volunteers to join our squads, as drivers, first responders or EMTs.
