Strong Second Half Propels Eagles by Gators

A game that was postponed because of bad weather from Thursday to Friday and moved to East Grand Forks the BGMR Gator Boys Basketball team had a strong first half but were unable to keep up that momentum and lost to the Sacred Heart Eagles 72-50. BGMR trailed 29-26 at halftime but had some breakdowns defensively in the second half and the Eagles depth was too much to overcome for the Gators.

Offensively BGMR shot 34% from the field but only 22% from the three-point line. Taylor Davy led the Gators with 16 points and 8 rebounds. Adrian Nelson had another strong offensive performance as he tallied 15 points and collected 6 rebounds. No other Gator would manage to hit double figures but Masen Swenson scored 9 and Chase Lorenson 8 for the Gators. Sacred Heart was led by Issac Ortiz who netted 16. No other Eagle would hit double digit scoring but several had between 5 and 8 points.

BGMR would head into the holiday break still searching for their first win but being more competitive each game has been a plus for BGMR. BGMR will take a week off before they resume practice on December 27th. BGMR will have their first home game of the year when the Grygla-Goodridge Chargers come to The Swamp on December 30th. Fans can forget about supper that night as the Gator Boys will be putting on a free will soup supper. This will also be the night of the annual Gator Boys Basketball Raffle. Come on out and enjoy some delicious food and hopefully some exciting high school basketball action.
