is Badger Spelling Bee Champion
Badger School held its annual Spelling Bee on Thursday, January 23, in the Badger School cafeteria. Seven students from grades 5-8 earned the honor to be involved in this year’s event. Preliminary rounds were held earlier in January to select two students to represent each grade level.
Those students competing in this year’s Spelling Bee were Layla Otto and Alexie Berger from fifth grade, Kaden Randall and Tayleigh Stoppelman from sixth grade, Onah Gregerson and Delyla Carpenter from seventh grade, and Kiley Streich from eighth grade. (one participant from this grade was absent the day of the Spelling Bee).
After several rounds, seventh grade student Delyla Carpenter was pronounced the winner after spelling the word “lieutenant”. Delyla will advance to the regional Spelling Bee in Thief River Falls in February. The Badger School Spelling Bee was coordinated by First Grade teacher, Heidi Warne. Judges for the event were Beverly Holm, Renee Rhen, and Tracy Peterson.
Good luck at the regional event, Delyla!
