The GMR Math League competed in the fourth meet of the year on January 27th. Competing on the Varsity Team were Audrey Gust, Quinn Vacura, Raegon Kuznia, Mya Bennett, Ava Christianson, Nathan Gust, Will Foss, and Sarah Pulk. Competing as individuals were Clara Bergsnev, McKenzie Dahl, Jalyssa Gust, Teagan Landsrud, Levi Wahl, and Sierra Landsrud.
Scoring points in Event A: Audrey, Will, Ava, Quinn, Mya and Sarah with 2 points each, and Nathan, Raegon, Sierra, Clara, Jalyssa, McKenzie, Teagan, and Levi scoring 1 point each. Scoring points in Event B: Audrey and Jaylssa with 3 points each; Will, Ava, Nathan, Raegon, Sierra, Mya, and Sarah got 2 points each; Quinn and Levi with 1 point each. Scoring points in Event C: Will with 3 points; Audrey, Ava, Nathan, Raegon, and Quinn with 2 points each; Sierra, Clara, Jalyssa, Sarah, McKenize, and Levi with 1 point each. During the team round, no questions were answered correctly.
In the Northern Lights Division, Bemidji was first with 73 points, Thief River Falls was second with 68 points, Nevis was third with 61 points, GMR was fourth with 44 points, and Badger was fifth with 41 points.
In the Section, Thief River Falls was first with 68 points, Mountain Iron-Buhl was second with 58 points, GMR was third with 44 points, North Woods School And Badger tied for fourth with 41 points, and Nashwauk-Keewatin was sixth with 26 points. At the end of Meet 4, TRF is in first place with 28 rank points, Mountain Iron-Buhl is in second place with 17 rank points, GMR is in third placed with 15 rank points, North Woods School is fourth with 14.5 rank points, Badger is in fifth place with 8.5 rank points and Nashwauk-Keewatin is in sixth place with 5 rank points.
Thief River Falls has secured their spot to represent Section 8A at the State Math League Tournament in March. We do have one more regular season meet which will be in Bemidji on Monday, February 10th. GMR will need to focus and come together as a team to score points during the team round and secure a 3rd place finish in the section. Go Math League!!
