The American Legion takes pride in recognizing members who have reached significant milestones in their continuous service, traditionally honoring those with 50, 60, 70, and more years of membership. Certificates are sent to their respective Posts, and these dedicated individuals are publicly celebrated at the annual Veterans Supper each November.
However, for the past two years, these certificates were not available due to unknown reasons at the National level. As a result, members who have reached 50 and 51 years of continuous membership have not yet received their well-deserved recognition.
To correct this, a special recognition event is planned for Friday, February 21 at the Middle River American Legion. Socializing will take place from 5:30 to 6:00 PM in the back room, followed by a meal provided by the American Legion Auxiliary. After the meal, the long-awaited recognition ceremony will commence.
The community is warmly invited to attend and celebrate these devoted members: 51 Continuous Years of Service: Bryce Abrahamson Jon Hirst Ted Kruta Ken Niemela Eldon Sparby Lloyd Wagner 50 Continuous Years of Service: Elroy Aune Jerome Cwikla (Posthumous – Certificate presented at his funeral service) Gordon Peterson (Posthumous – Certificate to be presented to his son, Chad) This long-overdue recognition is an opportunity to honor the dedication and service of these Legion members. We hope to see many community members come together in support of this meaningful event.
