Northwest Minnesota History Contest

The NW Minnesota Sixth Grade History Contest was held on May 3rd. Six area schools participated by taking a Minnesota history test at the Roseau City Center. The contest has taken place for 42 years and is compiled by the Roseau County Historical Society. Trophies and cash awards were presented to the top six students. The cash awards are sponsored by Border Bank – Roseau County area, Citizens State Bank – Roseau, and Security State Bank of Warroad.

The contest has taken place for 42 years and is compiled by the Roseau County Historical Society. Trophies and cash awards were presented to the top six students. The cash awards are sponsored by Border Bank – Roseau County area, Citizens State Bank – Roseau, and Security State Bank of Warroad.

Students from Badger, Grygla, Lancaster, Marshall County Central (MCC), Roseau, and Warroad Schools participated in the test. Three students from each school are chosen by the teacher to compete in the history contest. The following students received top honors (seated L-R): 1st place Delaynna Mortvedt (Roseau), 2nd place Ty Johnson (Roseau), 3rd place Kara Samnanveth (Warroad), 4th place Drew Knutson (Roseau), 5th place Anna Heppner (Warroad), and 6th place Adley McGregor (MCC).

The contest is held each May and is open to all schools in Northwest Minnesota. Schools that may be interested in participating may contact Britt Dahl at the Roseau County Museum at 218-463-1918 or through email at [email protected].
