New Welcome Sign Celebrates Strathcona’s Rich History

In a nod to its rich history and vibrant community, Strathcona has unveiled their brand-new welcome sign that will greet visitors and residents alike with a warm embrace.

In a nod to its rich history and vibrant community, Strathcona has unveiled their brand-new welcome sign that will greet visitors and residents alike with a warm embrace.

Established in 1904, Strathcona has long been a source of pride for its tightknit community and unique attractions. The new welcome sign, a testament to its enduring spirit, prominently features some of the town's most cherished elements.

One such landmark is the Paradise Cafe, famous for its claim of having the “Best Doughnuts Around.” Locals and visitors alike have raved about the delectable pastries that have become a staple of Strathcona's culinary scene.

But Strathcona isn't just about delicious doughnuts. It's also home to a tradition that dates back decades – vintage oval ice racing. The thrill of the icy oval track draws crowds from far and wide, adding an exciting element to the town's character.

Mike Wojciechowski, Mayor, expressed his excitement about the project, stating, “This welcome sign embodies the heart and soul of Strathcona. It celebrates our history, our delicious traditions, and our unique activities. It's a warm invitation to everyone who enters our town to experience the beauty and warmth of Strathcona.”

The new sign has been revealed to the residents and visitors will have the opportunity to celebrate the town's heritage and look forward to a bright future. Strathcona continues to be a place where history and community converge, ensuring that its legacy lives on for generations to come.

When a council member made the motion for a city sign the remaining council members excitedly voted all yea’s. the sign was beautifully designed and installed by Salo Signs.

Council members include Mike Wojciechowski, Mayor; Shirley Ryden, secretary/treasurer; Vicky Lorenson, council member trustee; Patty Wojciechowski council member trustee; and Mark Ryden council member trustee.
