There is nothing like reminiscing old memories, and there will be a lot of that in Middle River at the end of June. Following the raving success of the first All School Reunion in 2019, the logical thing to do, and with encouragement from many attendees, was to plan another one!

Plant a tree in memory of your loved one(s) in the Middle River Memorial Tree Park along the river by the water tower. The fee to plant a tree is $100. This includes a single standard 6-8 foot bare root flowering crab tree and a plaque with the name(s) of those the tree is planted in memory of.

Eagle Softball takes Season Series Sweep from Gators

The BGMR Gator Softball Team travelled to Red Lake Falls on Tuesday looking to avenge an earlier season loss to the Eagles. Although the Gators started quickly and took a 2-0 lead in the top of the first, Red Lake Falls would take advantage of wild Gator pitching, scoring 2 runs in the first, 6 in the third and 3 in the fourth to put away the Gators. The Eagles would tack on 1 more run in the fifth and 2 in the sixth in route to their 14-6 win.

BGMR Clay Target Team Opens Season
BGMR Clay Target Team Opens Season

This past week was the first week of the 2024 Minnesota State High School League trap season with the Gator Claybusters beginning their preparation for the 2024 season. The first 3 weeks are practice weeks and reserve week, followed by 5 competition weeks before the end of the regular season. They will be hosting the Gator Invite on June 1st and the Alexandria State Trap Shooting Tournament will be June 10-18 with the Gator shooting day on June 15. The MSHSL State Tournament is on June 21 in Prior Lake where the top 100 shooters from the regular season with the highest averages will be in the Individual tournament and the top 40 teams from the Alexandria competition will compete in the team tournament. There are 44 members on the Gator team this year including Alec Beito, Avery Beito, Clara Bergsnev, Bennett Bertilrud, Briggs Bertilrud, Taylor Davy, Addison Dvergsten, Breydon Foss, Will Foss, Jordan Glad, Audrey Gust, Jalyssa Gust, Katelyn Gust, Kylee Gust, Nathan Gust, Payton Gust, Kaden Halvorson, Emmitt Isane, Briggs Jenson, Ashlyn Johnson, Teagan Landsrud, Peyton Lee, Owen Lund, Elijah Monsrud, Kieran Nelson, Ivan Olafson, Isaac Olson, Grant Olson, Levi Olson, Tryg Olson, Braxton Pearson, Austin Przekwas, Madilyn Pulk, Sarah Pulk, Brock Sikorski, Jude Vacura, Bethanie VonEnde, Keegan VonEnde, Mackenzie VonEnde, Brooklyn Wahl, Levi Wahl, Micah Wahl, Sierra Westberg, and Emerson Wiskow.

Gator Girls and Boys Golf Teams Open Season in Stephen with 2 First Place Finishes

The Gator golf teams got into the swing of things early in the season as they battled winds at the Stephen-hosted opening golf meet. The Girls Team consisting of Ava Christianson, Emily Burkel, Zairyn Wimpfheimer, Khloe Fletcher and Clara Bergsnev placed 1st as a team with Emily Burkel placing 1st with a 93, Khloe Fletcher placing 2nd with a 104, and Ava Christianson placing 8th with a 110. The top three girls teams were Badger-GB-MR 426, Roseau 444, and Warroad 464. Other teams competing included Sacred Heart, Lake of the Woods, Kittson Central, West Marshall, and Northern Freeze.
