Lois Marlene (Anderson) Dvergsten
Lois Marlene (Anderson) Dvergsten
After graduation, she attended nursing school in Crookston, MN. She first worked at the Klefstad Clinic, then at the Greenbush Community Hospital and Nursing Home until she retired in the fall of 1992.
On March 13, 1954, Lois married Arvid Dvergsten at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in rural Greenbush. It was a beautiful 60-degree day. They celebrated their 63rd wedding anniversary just a few months before Arvid passed in 2017.
Lois enjoyed listening to country music, drawing, and playing cards with her family and friends. Her grandkids always liked to joke about who was going to have the lucky horseshoe between her and grandpa, because they always seemed to kick their butts.
She loved to travel and bake. Some of her favorite places to travel were to the Pacific Ocean, Branson, Missouri, the mountains, and Hawaii which they traveled to for their 50th wedding anniversary. When it came to baking, she especially loved having her special sidekick by her side. They were known for their doughnuts, lefse, flatbread, and buns. Lois made a variety of different goodies that her kids, grandkids, and many other family and friends enjoyed. She was honored in 2009 with the Roseau County Senior Citizen Volunteer of the Year award. A lot of which was from volunteering her time baking for others in the community and teaching them her skills.
Lois loved her family and loved being grandma and Gigi to her grandkids, great-grandkids, and many other kids in the community, who also called her grandma.
Lois passed away on August 4, 2023, at Lifecare Greenbush Manor at the age of 91 years, 10 months, 7 days. She is survived by her three children: Marla Lange of Bellevue, WA; Arlyn (Joan) Dvergsten of Strathcona, MN; and Sharon (Donald) Emery of Greenbush, MN; 5 grandchildren: Matt (Lanine) Lange, Laura (Justin) Smith, Jaime (Tim) Peterson, Benji (Annie) Emery, and Lynsi (Jed) Hansen; 8 great-grandchildren: Emmitt and Eleanor Peterson, Delani and Dekker Hansen, Brayden and Xavier Smith, Ellanah Lange, and Leon Emery. As well as other family and friends.
