Ruby was born on May 7, 1954, in Thief River Falls, Minnesota, to Floyd and Junis (Sorter) Tanner.
She was baptized, attended Sunday school, and was confirmed at Emmanuel Free Lutheran Church (Ringbo) in rural Holt, Minnesota.
She grew up on the family farm near Middle River and graduated from Middle River High School with the Class of 1973.
Ruby worked at the turkey plant in Thief River Falls before moving to Strandquist for a time. She later settled in Roseau, where she was employed at Polaris until her retirement. Following retirement, she returned to Strandquist.
Ruby enjoyed gardening, baking, watching TV, and spending time at the casino. She loved visiting with friends and family over the phone, working on color pencil pictures, and solving sudoku puzzles. Known for her generosity, she often ordered extra just to share with others. She had a deep love for her dog and cats.
She is survived by her son, Jeffery Tanner (Holly Hanson) of Karlstad, Minnesota; siblings Archie Tanner (Sally) of Glyndon, Minnesota, Betty Moen of Thief River Falls, Minnesota, and Gary Tanner (Opal) of Middle River, Minnesota; brother-in-law James Erickson of Lake Bronson, Minnesota; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and longtime friends.
Ruby is preceded in death by her parents Floyd and Junis, sister Sally Erickson, an infant son, brother-in-law Marvin Moen, and great-nephew Justin Haugtvedt. Condolences may be sent at www. johnsonfuneralservice.com.
