There are so many questions in life that seem complicated. The answers to these questions are made more difficult because of the world in which we live. People have always considered their words carefully in order not to hurt the feelings of others, which is good.

Super Awarded for Many Years of Service to Middle River
Super Awarded for Many Years of Service to Middle River

When Tom Super took the oath of office as councilman for the city of Middle River, Jaws was the #1 movie, gasoline was 57 cents a gallon, the sliding hill and tennis court were not here, there was an average of 22 students in each grade at MR School, most of our streets were gravel, and everyone had a telephone hanging on the kitchen wall and had to stay within the length of the cord to talk! Times have changed but one thing has not -- Tom Super's dedication to the city of Middle River. Tom was born and raised in Mentor, graduating from high school in 1967. He graduated from Moorhead State College in 1972 and worked part time on the Burlington Northern railroad. He had just started his first teaching job at Sacred Heart in East Grand Forks when he was notified of a job opening with the Soo Line Railroad in Thief River Falls. In May of 1974 he moved to Middle River with his wife of 6 months, KayDell Henning. Tom recalls, “Instead of moving to Thief River Falls we chose to live in Middle River because of my love for hunting and also because of my friendship with my father in law Eddie Henning.”

'Ask a Trooper'
'Ask a Trooper'

Question: I was recently issued a citation and it states “tires extending beyond fenders” - I have a clarification question on the statute listed, 169.734. It states, “Every passenger automobile shall have fenders, or other devices, that are designed to prevent, as far as practicable, water, dirt, or other material being thrown up and to the rear by the wheels of the vehicle.” I’m trying to figure out what my best solution is, without having to buy four new rims and tires. My rear wheels stick out from my fender’s one inch.

Northern Freeze Cross Country Team makes its Debut

Coach Teri Peterson couldn’t be more excited that a new Cross Country team has been created this year. Team captain Reagan Mimnaugh is serving as leader of the squad, and other team members include Emily Waterworth, Brooke Bjorgaard, Kylee Bolstad, Lexi Bring, Abigail Gossaman, Jackson Barth. The team competed in its first meet of the season in Perham with 24 teams competing. Only three of the team members were able to compete because of other commitments but they performed well. Eighth grader Lexi Bring ran in the girls JH 3200 race against 73 other racers and finished in 18th place with a time of 14.58. A great beginning!
